'M' football sophomore safety Vlad Emilien to transfer

BY TIM ROHAN

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez announced that sophomore safety Vlad Emilien had decided to transfer.

Scout.com reported Wednesday morning that Emilien "requested, and was granted, his release Tuesday in a meeting with head coach Rich Rodriguez."

Emilien played in five games as a true freshman in 2009. He was a backup in last Saturday's season opening win over UConn.

"Vladdy has decided to transfer, ( and) look for other opportunities," Rodriguez said. "He's a good young man and we wish him well."

The Wolverines lose yet another defensive back. And even though Emilien had not yet made a big impact on the program, he was a three-star recruit out of high school according to Scout.com.
