UHS receives 200 doses of H1N1 nasal spray

BY DAILY STAFF

University Health Service received 200 doses of the H1N1 nasal spray, FluMist, though injectable vaccinations are still not available. Vaccinations will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

UHS will have an H1N1 flu mist clinic Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Allergy, Immunization and Travel Health Clinic on the first floor of UHS, according to an e-mail to the University community from Robert Ernst, Medical Director of UHS. University students can be vaccinated free of charge because the vaccination is covered by the health service fee.

According to the e-mail, the priority groups identified as high risk for H1N1 by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention will be eligible for the vaccination. These groups include individuals ages 10 to 24 and individuals age 25 to 49 who live with or care for infants younger than six months or who work in health care.

Students can schedule appointments at https://tools.uhs.umich.edu/scheduler/appointment.php?pid=14 until 7:30 a.m. Friday.

As more of the vaccine becomes available, more clinics will be scheduled.
