'U' of New Mexico soccer player Elizabeth Lambert goes "WWE" in Mountain West Tournament

BY MARK BURNS

Elizabeth Lambert was just a student-athlete at New Mexico University a few days ago.

But after the junior soccer defender went "WWE" on multiple BYU players last Thursday, her actions have stimulated a wide-response from the country, and she has become a nationally recognized athlete.

During a Mountain West Conference semifinal contest, Lambert punched a Cougars' player in the back, kicked a ball squarely in a girl's face and committed multiple other flagrant fouls.

The most shocking move by Lambert was when she pulled Kassidy C. Shumway down to the ground by her ponytail. Shumway laid on the ground, crying in pain after the incident.

New Mexico suspended Lambert indefinitely Friday for her actions against BYU.

I mean, in soccer, there's your usual slide tackles, hip checks and other non-flagrant fouls. But what Lambert did is beyond the scope of soccer and moves into the realm of stupidity and utter maliciousness.

This was something I've never seen before and hope to never see again. With a few officials on the field, I'm surprised Lambert wasn't ejected. She was only give one yellow card in the entire match.

Below is a video/article of Lambert's actions.
