Sequels dominate video game scene for fall 2002

This fall, the video game world will see competition like never before. With Nintendo and Microsoft releasing next generation consoles (Gamecube and X-Box, respectively), and Sony and Sega still releasing blockbusters, fall 2001 looks to offer some of the best video game titles in years. Here are a few titles to look for.

Sega Dreamcast

"NFL 2K2", "NBA 2K2": Sega brings their critically acclaimed sports" titles back to Sega Dreamcast one last time (both titles will also make their debut on the X-Box and Playstation 2). Both games include enhanced graphics, better online play and more accessible menus.

Playstation 2

"Metal Gear Solid 2": Video game genius Hideo Kojima brings the most antipicated game of the year to the Deuce. This time around Solid Snake must bring peace to the world while dealing with terrorist attacks on New York City. Do to the unfortunate events of in New York last week, minor cosmetic changes will be made to the game. The concept of terrorism will be retained in the game, however, as Kojima states, ""Metal Gear Solid" 2 is game about bringing peace to the world."

"SSX Tricky": EA Sports" Big follows up the best game of 2000, "SSX," with this semi-sequel featuring several new tracks and racers. The game will also be available on X-Box and Gamecube.

"Tony Hawk"s Pro Skater 3": Tony and his skateboard buddies go 128-bit in a visually stunning upgrade of the now classic series. Aside from new courses and skaters, the game also features new "grounded moves."

X-Box

"NFL Fever 2002": Microsoft takes on the challenge of dethroning EA Sports" "Madden NFL" series. Featuring the most detailed graphics ever seen in a console football game, "Fever" has the beginnings of a great series.

"Halo: Combat Evolved": PC "death-match" finally gets the treatment it deserves on X-Box. This fast and furious first-person shooter offers exciting multi-player play with up to 16 people at once.

Gamecube

"Luigi"s Mansion": Luigi, brother of the most recognized video game icon of all-time, Super Mario, finally gets top billing in a video game that resembles the classic film, "Ghostbusters." Expected to alongside the Gamecube, Nintendo expects this title to be the top selling game of the holidays.

"Rogue Squadron 2": Stay on Target! Easily the most impressive game at both E3 and Spaceworld 2001, Lucasarts latest "Star Wars" game truly has the force on its side.
