Rodriguez comments on start of spring practice

BY TIM ROHAN

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez spoke breifly Thursday afternoon about how spring practice has been going. The Wolverines started spring practice on Tuesday and have been practicing without pads.

"The enthusiasm was outstanding," Rodriguez said. "(It's) what you would expect after you've been working out inside for six or seven weeks and you go outside and it's a beautiful day and the sun is out. I was really pleased.I think we made progress. We're very slow in our installation, offense, defense, purposefully, because we need to work on a lot of technique stuff. The guys responded very well, and I think today with the weather we should have another good practice ... Nobody got hurt, that's a good thing."

Rodriguez added that the team will start practicing in pads Saturday morning.
