Report: Ann Arbor has third-worst roads in Michigan
BY TREVOR CALERO
Ann Arbor has the third worst roads in the entire state, just behind Detroit and Grand Rapids, according to the Michigan Asset Management Council's Annual Report, which was released today by the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association (MITA).
The report found that Ann Arbor has 189 miles of roads in poor condition, compared to the 586 miles in Detroit and the 200 miles in Grand Rapids.
"Our legislative leaders need to stop 'watching' the funding problem evolve into a crisis and take appropriate action to correct it," Mike Nystrom, vice president of government and public relations for MITA wrote in the article. "This isn't a case of road agencies not doing their jobs. Michigan's local road systems are collapsing because funding continues to plummet."
