BY ANDREW LAPIN
President Barack Obama will invite the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team, which claimed the 2010 NCAA national title, to the White House on Sept. 13, a press release from White House Media Affairs announced on Friday.
The team will be attending along with several other NCAA championship teams from universities nationwide as part of an ongoing presidential effort to congratulate student athletes "on their accomplishments in the classroom as well as on and off the playing field," according to the press release.
All of the teams will be honored with a reception at the White House. A partial list of the invited teams given in the press release named teams from three other Big Ten schools: University of Iowa wrestling, Purdue University's women's golf and University of Minnesota women's ice hockey.
