Jason Dest

Position: Defense

Hometown: Fraser, Mich.

The Skinny: Known for his intensity and great work ethic, Dest comes to Michigan after playing with the River City Lancers (in Omaha) in the United States Hockey League. The six-foot lefty, helped anchor a defense that recorded a team and league high 17 shutouts.

Mike Brown

Position: Forward

Hometown: Northbrook, Ill.

The Skinny: Often compared to former Wolverine Jed Ortmeyer, Brown is known for his strong play around the net. Brown played with the U.S. National Development Under-18 Team (US-NTDP) last year, where he scored five goals and notched six assists.

Matt Hunwick

Position: Defense

Hometown: Roseville, Mich.

The skinny: Hunwick was another member of the Under-18 National Development Team. He ranked sixth on that team in total points with 26, including an impressive 18 assists. Hunwick is a bruiser, and he showed that by leading the team in penalty minutes last season with 136.

Tim Cook

Position: Defense

Hometown: Montclair, N.J.

The Skinny: Simply put, Cook is a beast. At 6-foot-five and 205 pounds, Cook has the tough mindset needed to take on the CCHA's biggest and strongest players. Cook can skate well and is good with the puck on his stick.

Associate head coach Mel Pearson:

"We're really happy with them all, and I know we're only losing one defender (Mike Roemensky), but we're bringing in three. Those kids who are coming, they'll give us something we lack this year in a little bit of size and physical presence on the blue line."
