OMG on TV — 3/19/10
BY BRIGID KILCOIN
"Factory Made: Semiconductors, Banjos, Stainless Steel Pans, and Oil Paints are Made!" on Science
I have already provided hard-hitting coverage of this show in a previous installment of "OMG on TV," but this quintet of products was too good not to highlight. I could not imagine a more perfect union.
"Ghost Hunters: Shamrock Spirits" on Syfy
I have always wondered about the people who willingly participate in these ghost-themed shows. But I have a theory. The dudes who star in them are completely aware they are fake, but do not mind sacrificing their pride for all-expenses paid vacations.
Take this episode, for example...Josh and the crew travel to Ireland to search for a leprechaun. Wait, what? That is crazy! But if you got to take a free trip to Ireland to stand in front of a camera for an hour and talk about the eerie vibrations you're feeling, you know you would be down.
"The Price of Beauty" on VH1
Jessica Simpson travels to Thailand to investigate beauty or something. I don't know, VH1 will put literally anything on the air these days. But the press release is so good:
"No matter where you are in the world, chances are, you know that Jessica Simpson is no stranger to the spotlight."
That is so true! No matter where you are in the world!
This is great too!
"Her hit pop and country songs, movies, television and eponymous collection of shoes, clothes, bags etc. have helped to keep her in America's eye, but we all know Jessica for more than just her career achievements."
The thing is that Jessica Simpson just has so many accomplishments that they cannot fit them all in this press release, which explains that "etc." after they talk about her shoes, clothes, and bags collections. Luckily, America is blessed with an encyclopedic knowledge of Jessica's past endeavors, which allows us to focus on things beside her "career achievements." "We" are just all going to watch this so as not to miss a single second of Jessica's life!
"Madmen of the Sea" on Animal Planet
This is a miniseries about someone nicknamed the "Fish Whisperer." It does not sound interesting at all, but I like the name "Madmen of the Sea," so I am writing about it.
