NIT field announced, Michigan not in it
BY NICOLE AUERBACH
The NIT selected its 32-team field tonight, and the Michigan men's basketball team was not a part of it. The only teams from the Big Ten selected were Illinois and Northwestern.
During last Monday's Big Ten teleconference, Michigan coach John Beilein said the Wolverines would not play in the CBI, a 16-team tournament considered a level below the NIT.
“We do not have an interest in the CBI this particular year,” Beilein said.
With that, Michigan's season is over.
