Watch out, Facebook.com. A new student-run website has hit campus.

As if students need another distraction from studying, University alum Michael Cho recently created a new site for the Wolverine community.
Cho, who graduated last year from the College of Engineering, dedicated his summer to creating websites for university students to upload college-relevant videos. He created an umbrella site, myschooltube.com, that provides sites for the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, National University of Singapore and Raffles Institution in Singapore.
The University is the fifth member of the site. Anyone can access the sites, but only students from the member universities can upload videos.
Umichtube.com carries the same idea as the popular Youtube.com but intends to cover University topics.
"There is such a huge influx of video content on the Web that you can't find what you want," Cho said. "So if I design a site that is geared to Michigan, then whoever visits the site will have a better tendency to find what they want and like what they see."
The site features videos like a figure in a Pac-Man suit running around the Fishbowl and two men dancing in the grass on the Diag.
Cho first came up with the idea for a Michigan video clip site after returning from a World Service Team trip to Cambodia in the summer of 2004.
"I got the motivation for making this site after collecting tons of video from my service trip and not having any means of sharing it," Cho said. "Video content like this is very valuable to the school."
Membership to the site is free. Cho is interested in collecting all types of videos, from student life to performances, projects and protests.
"I think this site could help Michigan be a better integrated community, as well as help students discover a relationship that they might not have noticed before," said Larry Mo, an engineering junior. "I can't wait to see it."
Cho said he hopes to take the project nationwide in the future.Cho first came up with the idea for a Michigan video clip site after returning from a World Service Team trip to Cambodia in the summer of 2004.
