Four years removed from its magical National Championship season, the Michigan softball team took another step towards another Championship in Oklahoma City.

The fifth-seeded Wolverines defeated fourth seed Alabama, 6-1, in the opening round of the Women's College World Series.

Led by junior pitcher Nikki Nemitz, who only allowed three hits and one run, Michigan overpowered the Tide from the mound and from the plate, grabbing eight hits on Alabama ace Kelsi Dunne who hadn't allowed a hit in 13.3 innings.

Michigan takes on the winner of Florida vs. Arizona tomorrow night on ESPN2.

Check michigandaily.com for the full story on Michigan's dominant performance later tonight.
