Michigan to face Miami (Ohio) in CCHA semifinals
BY MICHAEL FLOREK
While the Wolverines were resting at home after their sweep of Michigan State on the road, their potential opponent was forced to play for their CCHA postseason Sunday.
Miami (Ohio), after losing in overtime Saturday, pulled out a 2-1 victory over Ohio State in Oxford. RedHawk goalie Connor Knapp made 22 stops Sunday to push the No. 1 seed into a semifinal matchup No. 7 seed Michigan.
The teams will play Friday, with the winner advancing to the finals the following day to face the winner of the Northern Michigan/Ferris State matchup.
Miami swept the Wolverines in a two-game series at Yost in early November. The RedHawks won the first game 3-1 despite launching just thirteen shots but returned the following night to handle Michigan 5-1 and prompted Michigan coach Red Berenson to call his team "spoiled brats" after the game.
