Look out AP and USA Today - The Michigan Daily Top 10 has arrived. Each week, Daily Sports staffers will fill out ballots, with first place votes receiving 10 points, second-place votes receiving nine, and so on. Every Monday, the results will be published, with first-place votes in parentheses.
More like this
1. Ohio State (9): We can only imagine the smug look on Jim Tressel's face as he watches the annual BCS chaos take center stage. It's a disturbing thought, but the Buckeyes have earned the right to relax for a few weeks.
2. Michigan: The Wolverines couldn't have enjoyed Notre Dame's performance last week. Michigan was in the uncomfortable position of rooting for Charlie Weis's squad. True to form, the Fighting Irish blew it.
3. Southern Cal: Pete Carroll's boys are comfortably in the BCS driver's seat heading into Saturday's matchup with UCLA. There's no reason to expect a Trojan loss, but crazier things have happened, right? Right?
4. Florida: The Gators almost played down to the level of a horrible Florida State team, but managed to hold on for a one-touchdown victory. Florida will take its slim BCS hopes into the SEC Championship game this weekend.
5. Louisiana State: This is the best two-loss team in the country, and quite possibly the best squad in the SEC. The Tigers will miss out on the SEC Championship game, but will be dangerous in a BCS bowl.
6. Wisconsin: Unfortunately for the Badgers, getting through the season with just one loss won't lead to a BCS berth. With two other Big Ten teams in the BCS top-three, Wisconsin will head to the Capital One Bowl.
7. Oklahoma: Remember when the Sooners essentially had their game against Oregon stolen from them almost three months ago? Without that tainted loss, Oklahoma could be a part of the long line of angry one-loss teams.
8. Louisville: With West Virginia's embarrassing home loss to South Florida this week, Louisville is once against the cream of the crop for the Big East. Now, the Cardinals and their high-flying offense look like a good bet to make a BCS game.
9. Arkansas: The Razorbacks may have lost to Louisana State this weekend, but they didn't go down quietly. Darren McFadden made himself a household name, and will hope to topple No. 4 Florida this weekend in the SEC title game.
10. Boise State: The Broncos finally break into the Daily Top 10, but no thanks to their dismal schedule. Boise State may be undefeated and poised to sneak into a BCS bowl, but its strength of schedule doesn't even break into the top 100.
Also receiving votes: Auburn, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Rutgers.
