LaMarre named Big Ten Player of the Week

BY BEN ESTES

Talk about a solid return.

Junior outfielder Ryan LaMarre, in his first week starting after returning from a broken thumb suffered February 20th against Texas Tech, was named Big Ten Player of the Week for his performance in last Wednesday's win over Central Michigan and the weekend series victory over Purdue. He becomes the first Michigan player to receive the award since he won it March 9th last season.

After going 1-for 3 with an RBI single in his first start since the injury against Central, LaMarre exploded against Purdue, going 9-for-13 with 4 RBI over the three game series, including two doubles and a triple in Sunday's finale. His batting average now stands at .519, which would lead the team and conference if he had enough at-bats to qualify.
