Hogan tests out injured groin, dresses in full equipment
BY MARK BURNS
For the first time since the pre-game warmups to The Big Chill at the Big House on Dec. 11 — in which the Michigan hockey team defeated Michigan State 5-0 — senior goaltender Bryan Hogan was in full equipment Tuesday at Yost Ice Arena.
Following the Wolverines' practice this afternoon, Hogan made his way onto the ice for about 10 minutes, where he proceeded to test out his injured groin, moving from post-to-post and skating a few laps around the ice.
"It's week-to-week now," Michigan coach Red Berenson said of the timetable for Hogan's return. "We think by the end of the month, he'll be skating and practicing. Until he starts practicing, there's no chance (he'll see game action). And he's going to need about a week of practice before we even think about putting him in a game."
Senior goaltender Shawn Hunwick has carried the load since Hogan went down a month ago, winning 4 of 5 games, including the 46th Great Lakes Invitational in late December at Joe Louis Arena.
