The Michigan Daily: You talked to Cissoko after he was dismissed from the team today. What did you two discuss?

Detroit Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher: We only talked about him trying to get himself together and going to class and doing the right things and trying to work through it. That's all we talked about.

TMD: How did his mood seem?

Wilcher: He accepts reality, that's all. Calm. He was calm. He wasn't upset because he knows he messed up. That's all.

TMD: Looking back, could you have seen this coming or was he a good student-athlete in high school?

Wilcher: No. No, I never saw it coming. Whatever he was asked to do, he did it.

TMD: Is he going to try and play football somewhere else or stay at Michigan?

Wilcher: Well, it depends on how he comes out with this right here. I think he'll probably go someplace else and play.

TMD: What will determine that decision?

Wilcher: Grades. If he keeps his grades up, he'll be all right.

TMD: What did you discuss with the Michigan assistant coach who also talked to you today?

Wilcher: He just told me what the problem was. That's it.

TMD: Was it purely academic?

Wilcher: No, just a combination of missing study table, missing class and missing workouts.

TMD: Do you know long this was going on for?

Wilcher: No, it's like the second time it happened I know.

TMD: Last year was he good about going to class?

Wilcher: I mean, he struggled in his classes, but he did whatever it took to make sure he got his grades and everything. (TMD: When did—) He almost turned it around though.

TMD: When did Cissoko find out from Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez that he was dismissed from the team?

Wilcher: Today, this afternoon.

TMD: Did anything personal, outside of football, contribute to these issues he's had?

Wilcher: No. His home life is good. He's got to do whatever the program asks. That's all. Whatever program he goes to, he needs to get with the program fast because these guys have lives, they have jobs. They need to be there for the students and the students need to be there for them.
