Published November 15, 2004

Now that Michigan is just a win away from the Rose Bowl, let’s dream a little bit higher. If Michigan defeats Ohio State on Saturday, and just a handful of things go its way, the Wolverines could be playing for the national title.

No. 1 Southern Cal. needs to lose one of its final two games, and even then Michigan may not finish ahead of the Trojans. ODDS: 25:1

Remaining games: Nov. 27 vs. Notre Dame

Dec. 4 at UCLA

AND DEN ... No. 2 Oklahoma also needs to lose one of its final two games, ODDS: 40:1

Remaining games: Nov. 20 at Baylor

Dec. 4 Big XII Championship Game

AND DENNN ... No. 2 Auburn (thy’re tied in the AP Poll) also needs to lose one of its final two games. ODDS: 5:1

Remaining games: Nov. 20 at Alabama

Dec. 4 SEC Championship Game

AND DENNNNN ... No. 4 Cal, which could be Michigan’s opponent in the Rose Bowl, has a tough finale. ODDS: 10:1

Remaining games: Nov. 20 vs. Stanford

Dec. 4 at Southern Miss.

AND DENNNNNNN ... The biggest BCS-buster, No. 5 Utah needs to choke in the last game between it and an 11-0 season. ODDS: 75:1

Remaining games: Nov. 20 vs. BYU

AND DENNNNNNNNN ... No. 6 Texas probably needs to lose, though Michigan could jump them in the polls with a resounding win at Ohio State. ODDS: 12:1

Remaining games: Nov. 26 vs. Texas A&M
