Dingell: Health care bill would benefit almost 500,000 people in Michigan's 15th district

If the Democratic health care legislation is passed, it would benefit the health insurance coverage of about 488,000 people in Michigan’s 15th district — which includes Ann Arbor, according to new data released this week by the United States House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The health care bill would also provide the greatest tax-cut for middle-class Americans, in addition to making health care more affordable for small businesses, according to a press release sent out Wednesday from the office of Congressman John Dingell (D–Mich).
According to the press release, the health care legislation would provide a tax credit for 160,000 families and 11,600 small businesses in Michigan’s 15th district.
“The Democratic health insurance reform proposal brings us closer to realizing my belief in universal access to health care making coverage a possibility for thousands, improving coverage for hundreds of thousands, and saving the lives of millions,” Dingell wrote in the press release.
If the legislation is passed, 67,000 young adults in the state’s 15th district would also be able to employ their parents’ health insurance plans, according to the press release.
