CTools notifies students 'file storage capacity problem' now fixed
BY NICOLE ABER
Students who used CTools on Thursday, Dec. 9 may find there was a problem with work they submitted via the website.
In an e-mail from the CTools Team Saturday afternoon, select students were notified there was a malfunction on the site Dec. 9 between 3 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The problem was identified as a “file storage capacity problem,” but it has since been fixed, the e-mail stated.
Margaret Loveless, marketing communications specialist senior supervisor for the University's Information and Technology Services, wrote in an e-mail interview Sunday that after the problem was discovered, a "thorough investigation" was conducted before the e-mail was sent out alerting students of the issue.
"The investigation didn’t reveal until late last week that some individual’s attachments or files were not uploaded or only partially uploaded during this timeframe," Loveless wrote.
The e-mail was sent to students who are believed to have used the website during that time. Several functions on the website, including uploading or attaching files, the dropbox, the assignments tab, the resources and discussion sections, announcements and messages, may have been impacted by the error, the e-mail states. The forums and test center areas were possibly affected as well.
The e-mail encouraged students to check any uploads they made to CTools on that date, and to re-submit files that aren’t on the website but were turned in.
“Instructors were notified that some of the work submitted by students may have been affected by this issue,” the e-mail stated.
