Crime Alert: Armed robbery by South Quad

The Department of Public Safety issued a crime alert for an armed robbery that occurred last night on the 500 block of Monroe Street.
The incident, which took place across the street from South Quad at approximately 11:30 p.m., occurred when a red car pulled up beside a student who was walking along the south side of Monroe Street. The suspect exited from the passenger's side of the vehicle with a baseball bat and approached the student, demanding the student's backpack. The student hesitated and was struck in back of the head with the baseball bat before the suspect took the backpack, reentered the red car and fled the scene.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black ski mast over his face and a hoodie and was described as a 5'7"-5'8' white male.
