Congressman John Dingell (D–Mich.) has relayed many messages to the American public during his 54 years in the U.S. House. But he has never communicated quite like this before.
Dingell, 83, officially launched his new Twitter page, @john_dingell, on Wednesday and now has 53 followers.
Most of Dingell’s tweets reference President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address on Wednesday, with one tweet also referring to the congressman’s commitment to health care reform. Dingell has introduced health care legislation in every Congressional cycle since 1957 and is the main sponsor of the Affordable Health Care for America Act, which passed the House in November.
On Wednesday at 9:48 p.m., Dingell tweeted: “I join the President and will not walk away from #hcr either. Stood strong for 54 years and now is no time to quit. #SOTU”
