Berenson: Hunwick to start against Mercyhurst in home opener
BY MARK BURNS
After practice on Wednesday, Michigan hockey coach Red Berenson addressed the media and said that senior goaltender Shawn Hunwick will start on Saturday against Mercyhurst in the team's first game of the season.
The former walk-on netminder led the Wolverines down the stretch last year after then-junior starter Bryan Hogan suffered a groin injury in late February. Hunwick backstopped Michigan to a CCHA Tournament title and its 20th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, before losing to Miami (Ohio) in the regional final in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Berenson also said that Hogan would start on Sunday during the Wolverines' exhibition contest against Western Ontario.
