An unexpected visitor

Yesterday morning, my roommate texted me to let me know that a boy from California had followed her home from her weekend at Michigan State University and was sleeping on our futon in South Quad.

Upon arriving home, I met Claude "Kip" Henry Miller, a freshman at the University of California at Los Angeles and a former track teammate of my roommate's friend.

Kip and I decided to go out to Big Ten Burrito for lunch.

On the elevator ride down, Kip told me about the different places he had lived, including Mexico City and Los Angeles.

"When I was growing up," he said, "I lived in Novi, Michigan for a while."

Out of the blue, another passenger from across the elevator called back, "Oh, hey, I lived in Novi, too."

Kip and the stranger stared at each other for a momentbefore enthusiastically greeting each other. Kip later told me that his friend from the elevator had been his partner on his high school Physics Olympiad team. They had not seen each other in years.

After a tour of the city, and a promise from Kip to visit again soon, my roommate and I put our new random friend on a shuttle to the airport that afternoon.

ALLISON GHAMAN

A shared flair for fashion

One afternoon my aunt, uncle and three young cousins came to visit me.

My uncle went to the University for graduate school and he wanted to show his kids the campus and take me out for coffee.

We were walking through the Diag, seeing the sites that it has to offer when the "Bra Guy" rode by on his bike - you know, the skinny blonde man who's often hanging around outside of Village Corner or the Diag Party Shoppe and who wears a bra.

My cousins and aunt were rather taken aback by his alternative attire.

Everyone was quiet for a moment, then my uncle broke the silence.

"You know, Kerry?" he said. "I think you have that same bra. It's from Victoria's Secret. Right? Hmm, he probably wears the same size as you."
