Apple to Apple: The Beatles catalogue hits iTunes

BY ARIELLE SPECINER

Save up your pennies kids, the Beatles are now available on iTunes.

After years of back-and-forth banter between Steve Jobs’s Apple and the Beatles’ Apple record company, a deal was finally struck for Jobs’s Apple to gain the rights to the band’s treasured collection. Today, Beatles albums, singles, box sets, mini-documentaries, photos and more became available for purchase from the iTunes store. Previously, the only way to have Beatles albums in iTunes libraries was to upload the discs manually, but now digital copies are purchasable with just the click of a mouse.

“Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget,” Apple stealthily advertised yesterday. Surely, the fact that the Beatles’ catalogue is now easily obtainable is memorable. One of the most legendary bands in history is now available to anyone with an iTunes account, possibly changing how this band will go down in history. Though there was no doubt that the Fab Four’s music would live on forever, having the convenience to purchase their music at anytime, anywhere (even on the go) will accentuate their popularity.

Individual songs start at $1.29, as usual, while box sets with 13 albums and bonus material price in at $149.00. And wouldya look at that: The introduction of the Beatles on iTunes debuted right before the holidays — brilliant, Apple, just brilliant.
