A2 to install 150 more e-parking machines

BY NICOLE ABER

The city of Ann Arbor will install an additional 150 solar-powered pay stations throughout the downtown area over the next three years, according to a Jan. 11 article on annarbor.com.

The project will cost the city $2.28 million, and was unanimously approved by the executive board of the Downtown Development Authority, according to the article.

The e-park stations first appeared in the city on June 15, 2009, scattered throughout Main, State, East Liberty and Maynard Streets.

The 25 pay stations save the amount of energy in 3,500 9-volt batteries per year, Joe Morehouse, DDA deputy director, told The Michigan Daily in July last year.

The city raised parking fees last July to raise money for the installation of the original 25 e-park stations.
