Undefeated for two years. 40-0. Two national championships. I'd say that qualifies as MOST successful.
Not to take anything away from men's rowing. Also a very good program. Men's lacrosse and men's rowing seem to be the two most legitimate club programs on campus (ei. they run most like the varsity teams around them and less like club teams are usually run).
One big difference, in my mind, is that great rowers can often be developed from athletes who did not row until college. Lacrosse depends on players who have been playing since they were very young, and they have to recruit nationally and draw players to Michigan who are getting recruited to play at all levels of varsity lacrosse. That adds a whole different dimension to running the team that instantly makes them much more like a varsity team.
