I wonder how you (and your father, for that matter) feel about Professor Greg Mankiw's stance on pigovian taxes on carbon emissions. As Mankiw details in this recent document (http://www.economics.harvard.edu/faculty/mankiw/files/Smart%20Taxes.pdf) pigovian taxes are the best possible solution to limit emissions, while increasing government revenue and avoiding higher costs that are inevitably passed on to consumers.
