Seeing gold

College of Engineering junior, Matt Anderson, shows off the gold mirror that will be used in his astronomical research grade inferred camera. Matt hopes that the technology, which is still being tested, can be used in a inferred telescope satellite many years down the road.

Colorful reaction

A beaker containing water, dry ice, and solution that changes color in response to acid-base changes goes from blue to green. The color change was caused by the release of carbon dioxide into the water from the dry ice, creating a more acidic solution. Chemistry junior Stephen Martin, one of the hands behind this creation, set it up in commemoration of National Mole Day, which was Thursday.

Tell us about the rabbit

Butters, a rabbit, grazes in the front yard of his house on North Thayer St. on Thursday. LSA junior Tyler Cole, Butters' owner, said he lets Butters stay outside for three to eight hours a day, so he can eat his natural diet – grass and leaves. He said letting the rabbit graze is the natural and cheap alternative.
