Cathy Schembechler admires the "Heart of a Champion" sculpture in honor of her late husband Bo Schembechler was unveiled in the Cardiovascular Center of the University of Michigan Hospital last night. Dr. Kim A. Eagle described Bo as "that little sailboat that kept sailing." Miniature busts of Bo were given to former players on Schembechler's team and his wife, Cathy.

IFC and Panhel elect new executive boards

The Interfraternity Council and the Panhellenic Association, the groups responsible for governing most of campus’s fraternities and sororities respectively, both held executive board member elections for the one-year term starting in December this week in the Anderson Room of the Michigan Union.

Off the Beaten Path: Newberry Hall

In 1890, Helen Newberry donated $18,000 to the Students’ Christian Association in honor of her husband, John Newberry. One year later, the association’s headquarters on South State Street was completed bearing the name “Newberry Hall.” In all likelihood, Mrs. Newberry didn’t know that 200 years later the building she helped finance would be home to nearly 100,000 archaeological artifacts.

Ann Arbor representatives push for two gay rights bills

Proponents of gay rights in Michigan took two big steps forward recently with the introduction of a resolution that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state and the passage through a state House of Representatives committee of a bill that would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.
