The Working Ethic: Do your reading
BY CHARLENE LERNER
If it’s a course that you’re taking to fulfill your major’s requirements, the fact you aren’t doing your readings in those classes may be more problematic, from an ethical standpoint, than not doing readings in classes you’re taking “just because,” or that aren’t your primary focus.

From the President's Desk: Big House Entrepreneurship
BY MANISH PARIKH
Like so many other aspects of student life here at Michigan, entrepreneurship is empowered and facilitated by the administration at the top but has a distinctly student-driven, bottom-up approach. When I first met the Associate Dean of Entrepreneurial Programs Thomas Zurbuchen, I asked him for advice on creating the first-of-its-kind Entrepreneurship Commission at U-M.

Sophia's Study-A-Blog: Coloring book for the mind
BY SOPHIA KOTOV
I used to think that empty space is exactly that – empty. There is little to take in or to process, to stimulate the imagination. But “nothing” can also be inspiring. Imagine a clean sheet of paper, an empty canvas, or a wide-open sky with clouds that look like elephants, faces and hamburgers all at once. This is what I reflected on when I visited the Holocaust memorial in Berlin this weekend.

Lincoln Logs: I don't like you, let's talk
BY HARSHA NAHATA
“I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.”– Abraham Lincoln
I don’t know how many times I’ve distanced myself from people that I thought saw differently than me. Or believed differently. People that I couldn’t see myself relating to. People who’s views I fundamentally disagreed with. Or simply people I just didn’t click with — those that I decided I “didn’t like.”

Weil Can Do It: Spare a thought for Seeburg
BY ELLERY WEIL
It’s all well and good to follow the Manti Te’o story, as I expect many of you have. It’s fine to feel sorry for him and to ponder the fake-internet-persona phenomenon of “catfishing.” But while you will undoubtedly hear more from Manti Te’o in days to come, I implore you to take a moment to spare a thought for Lizzy Seeburg.

Sophia's Study-A-Blog: A language barrier
BY SOPHIA KOTOV
The recent Michigan Daily article on the sexual assault in West Quad on Sunday morning left me upset. It refers to the rape as “reported” and from that point onward refers to it as an “alleged assault,” making it seem like the reliability of the survivor is questionable.

From the President’s Desk: Your 24-hour café
BY MANISH PARIKH
“Dream on,” said an ex-student involved with student government, when he heard about our campaign initiative to open up a 24-hour café on campus. “Initiatives such as these take two to three years to materialize,” he warned us, “by that time your term will long be over and the next president may have no interest in the project”.
