Big Ten, Pac-12 call off agreement

The Big Ten and Pac-12 scheduling agreement that was planned to begin in 2017 was called off on Friday.
Scheduling issues involving a few Pac-12 teams hindered the collaboration, which included a 12-game round-robin football schedule, matchups involving other sports and an agreement between the two conferences’ television networks.

Hoke talks Penn State scandal, losing his father on Dan Patrick Show

Mikulak joins US gymnastics team for London Games

As the only American in Michigan men’s gymnastics history to make the five-man U.S. Olympic team, Mikulak joins teammate Syque Caesar as the two men’s gymnasts in London. Caesar earned a place on his native Bangladesh squad in May.

Incoming freshman Carrick backs out of commitment

Incoming freshman defenseman Connor Carrick announced via Twitter on Friday morning that he will sign with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, rather than begin his career as a Wolverine this fall.

Bakich named Michigan baseball head coach

The Michigan baseball program has found its new head coach after a nationwide search that began with the May 22 announcement stating former coach Rich Maloney and the Wolverines had parted ways.
The athletic department announced Wednesday afternoon that Erik Bakich will be the 19th head coach in program history.

BREAKING: Michigan commit Trouba drafted ninth by Winnipeg

PITTSBURGH — The Winnipeg Jets, like Michigan coach Red Berenson, know the Wolverines are getting a special player in defenseman Jacob Trouba. So when Trouba was still available at the ninth selection of the first round of the NHL Entry Draft on Friday night, the Jets snatched him up.

Men's, women's basketball score perfect in newest APR scores

The NCAA released the most recent Academic Progress Rate scores on Wednesday. The APR scores — which are available from the 2004-05 to the 2010-11 seasons — measure how well an institution successfully sees its athletes progress towards graduation.

AHL's Griffins ink former Michigan captain Glendening

Former Michigan captain Luke Glendening has become the first homegrown player in the history of the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins to sign with the club. He signed a one-year contract Tuesday. The Griffins serve as the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

Former football great Bob Chappuis passes away

Former back Bob Chappuis — leader of the 1947 squad known as the “Mad Magicians” — passed away after being hospitalized from a fall earlier in the week, per release from the Michigan athletic department. He was 89.
