Professor again nominated to serve on White House award panel

Prof. Hyman Bass, who holds dual appointments in LSA and the School of Education, has been reappointed to the committee that nominates National Medal of Science recipients.
Congress established the National Medal of Science in 1958 to reward scientists who make substantial contributions in their field. The winners receive their award from President Barack Obama.

Residents move back into North Quad following flooding

Jennifer Metsker is a lecturer in the Department of English. She works in the Sweetland Writing Center, the Department of English and the School of Art & Design. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon, attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received her master’s degree at the University. She is from Sacramento, Calif.

Crowd greets men's basketball team at Crisler

"McMarry me McGary" and "In Trey We Trust" were just a few of the signs posted outside of the Crisler Center Sunday evening, where over 300 maize and blue faithful gathered to welcome home the men's basketball team as they returned from their tournament win over Florida.

A seven-member committee reviewed the theatre and drama department to determine whether or not it should remain a part of LSA. Although some administrators thought of the theatre and drama department as performance-oriented, others believed the program belonged in LSA as an academic program.

University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center to offer free cancer screenings

On April 20, the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center will offer free throat cancer screenings by appointment from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Taubman Health Center. Appointments take about 45 minutes.
There will also be smoking cessation counseling available, as well as various other resources about throat cancer.
