Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity issues apology

The members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity released a formal apology to the University community in accordance with sanctions placed on them by the Interfraternity Council, following the offensive photos and e-mailed party invitation that earned them a national suspension last month.

Professor Profile: Ann Jeffers

Ann Jeffers is an assistant professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering. Jeffers joined the University faculty in 2009 after getting her Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Missing UMHS employee found dead on medical campus

Heping Zhao, a pathologist assistant at University Hospital who was reported missing Tuesday, was found dead on the medical campus Thursday, University Police reported.

Heping Zhao, a pathologist assistant at University Hospital, was reported missing to the University Police at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday. His wife reported his disappearance.

Rob Steele received bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University. After a career as a cardiologist, he was the Republican Board of Regents nominee in 2010. Steele recently announced his campaign for the Senate in the 2014 election.

Pants on fire

WHERE: 126 Hoover Ave.
WHEN: Tuesday at about 2:10 a.m.
WHAT: Ann Arbor Fire Dept. responded to a couch fire near the stadium, University Police reported. The fire resulted in no injuries and was put out with mininimal damage to the surrouding area. Police currently have no suspects.
