Attempted sexual assault on the diag

An attempted sexual assault occurred in the West Hall arch on the southeast corner of the Diag at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning, University Police reported in a crime alert.

A female was approached from behind, was told to be quiet and the suspect tried to remove her pants. When other pedestrians approached, the suspect ran.

Adidas settles with workers at PT Kizone

After two years of facing protests, Adidas, the official supplier of University athletic apparel, has agreed to pay $1.8 million in severance to 2,800 garment workers who manufactured collegiate gear at an Adidas factory, PT Kizone, in Indonesia. The company fought against payment of its subcontracted workers following the sudden closure of the factory.

Police Oversight Committee changes name

The Oversight Committee for the University Police Department recently changed its name from the Department of Public Safety Oversight Committee in order to reflect the restructuring of the Division of Public Safety and Security that occurred last October.

Marching Band names new assistant director

Andrea Brown was named the Assistant Director of Michigan Marching and Athletic Bands Tuesday. Brown spent the past four years directing bands at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Director of Bands Michael Haithcock wrote in an e-mail to MMB students that he was proud to have Brown join the University community, citing her “conducting skills and the promise of her research agenda.”
