Logan Corey: What can't a poem be?

I spent the last week trying to explain what a poem is to an elementary school student who I tutor in writing and English. We wrestled with the basics for a while, though the student seemed infinitely less interested in the philosophy of the question than I had hoped. Instead, we worked together to create a short poem that followed closely his teacher’s guidelines.

Shortly after navigating a steep and slippery section of trail I heard a yell from behind me. I looked over my shoulder. Margot had tripped and was sliding out of control down a rock face off of the side of the trail.
