Scavenging for Sustenance with Sarah Squire: Nov. 2, 2010
BY SARAH SQUIRE
Hi, my name is Sarah Squire and I'm the co-managing design editor at the Daily. I spend many nights at 420 Maynard, beginning at 6 p.m. and going well into the morning. Unlike most staffers I rarely venture outside the building for dinner, instead I scavenge — I observe, plot, ask, beg, and occasionally barter to scrounge together a full meal by the end of the night. This is my latest victory:

Better Cheese for your Cheddar
BY JOELLE FIGUEROA HECKER
I believe in luxury. I think silk eye masks are a must, that one should always use a caddie, and I certainly appreciate champagne and warm almonds on a flight (that's not to say I often experience the latter, but you get the point).
I am also a firm believer in frugality. Heck, sometimes, I believe in being downright cheap. Do I make a lunch of supermarket samples? You bet.

Easy Like Sunday Morning
BY JOELLE FIGUEROA HECKER
Brunching is undoubtedly my favorite sport. It’s up there with watching films through my Buddy Hollys and apple picking. Unfortunately, my Sunday mornings are more often than not spent with flashcards instead of a frittata.

The Beauty of Brunch
BY JORDAN KRISTOPIK
Can we talk about brunch for a second? Can we talk about how perfectly awesome it is? You roll out of bed to a combination of two meals (and three, if there’s dessert). It’s the only meal where you can eat eggs, meat, bread, fruit, vegetables, coffee, alcohol, and dessert. You can sit in your pajamas and not care about what you look like. It’s the perfect start for a lazy day.

Cookies, and Brownies, and Cheesecake, Oh My!
BY JORDAN KRISTOPIK
The bad news is that I’ve neglected posting for a little bit. The good news is that my fall baking is in full force. The past week has been absurdly full of every dessert you can possibly imagine; you should see how much butter and sugar we go through at my apartment.
