Thoughts on 'The Great Gatsby' opening this year's Cannes Film Festival

BY GABY VASQUEZ

Warner Bros.

As if there wasn’t already pressure for “Gatsby” to be amazing (the recreation of a classic is never easy and always comes with high expectations), the fact that it is opening Cannes after it’s stateside release (May 10) means that there is a whole lot more riding on the film to be another one of Luhrmann’s successes.

Beyoncé commands the world to 'Bow Down' on her gritty new track

BY RAY MALO

Columbia

There’s nothing sugary about “Bow Down/I Been On.” She does a little singing sure, and she sounds fantastic as usual. But from the first instance she commands her listeners to “bow down, bitches,” we can hear her turn a corner. Queen B has always had a little stank in her voice, especially when live and supported by backing tracks, but that line is straight nasty.
