The Front Page PDFs are back (and working)
BY GARY GRACA
The oft-requested ability to view the front page of the print edition is back. After struggling with some technical difficulties over our first week, the feature should be working well from here on out.
By clicking on the thumbnail view of the print edition in the top right corner on michigandaily.com, you can download a full-size PDF version of the front page.

BREAKING NEWS! Oh, wait... not really.
BY COURTNEY RATKOWIAK
The editors were more than amused this evening to find the following headline as the lead on AnnArbor.com: "Michigan Daily: Pornography director allegedly set to "invade" University of Michigan campus". Since we, in fact, had not heard about this happening today, we clicked on the headline to see which of our articles AnnArbor.com could have referenced.

Our comment spam problem and (hopefully) our latest solution
BY GARY GRACA
Frequent visitors of michigandaily.com, especially frequent visitors of our comment boards, have probably noticed that over the past several months spam has invaded the site.
Unless you came to the site looking for replica watches, knock-off Gucci purses or something scrawled in gibberish characters, you probably thought they were a nuisance. We did, too.

Last semester, I launched a weekly feature on The Editor's Page in which I posted something interesting I found laying around the newsroom and pieced together as much of the history behind it as possible.
That feature, From the Daily's Vault, is back again every Wednesday this semester.

Though our annual informational meetings were briefly mentioned in my viewpoint published today about how the Daily operates, it's worth a second mention that the Daily will be holding a series of informational meetings starting today at our offices at 420 Maynard St. The meetings will be on the following dates and times:

What's in a volume number?
BY JACOB SMILOVITZ
With tomorrow’s paper, we begin the 120th volume of The Michigan Daily.
But exactly when that volume number rolls over hasn’t always been clear in the history of the Daily.
Among the bound volumes we scoured, the 2002, 2003 and 2008 editions of the Daily used the first day of school as the first day of a new volume number for the Daily.

Let me start, though, by backtracking a little bit.
