University student dies in car accident on U.S. 23

A University student died Thursday afternoon in a car accident while driving on U.S. 23.

Business sophomore Wooram Choi was driving southbound in Northfield Township around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon when a tire from a snowmobile being hauled by a northbound vehicle flew across the median and hit Choi’s windshield, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Choi was pronounced dead at the scene from severe facial and head injuries, MLive reported.

The driver of the other vehicle was a 46-year old Ohio man. Because the incident is still under investigation, it is not currently known if charges will be filed.
