Suspicious behavior reported on North Campus
BY TAYLOR WIZNER
University Police posted a safety bulletin after there were several reports of suspicious behavior by a man, or men, in the North Campus area.
University Police spokeswoman Diane Brown said the Department of Housing Security and Safety Services has received about a half dozen complete and incomplete reports of odd behavior around the Bursley and Baits residence halls and the North Campus Recreation Building since Friday. Most of the incidents reportedly occurred midday, but one reportedly occurred at about 11:30 p.m.
The reports listed on the bulletin stated that a man approached various women on separate occasions, told the woman she was pretty and asked for a date. In some instances, the man also attempted to kiss the woman.
Police describe the man as having a dark complexion or olive skin, and possibly being of Middle Eastern or Italian descent. The man was also reported to be in his mid-30s with dark, shoulder-length hair and a heavy accent. Descriptions of the clothing in reports varied, and in one instance the man was observed leaving on a bicycle.
Brown said she does not know if the man is affiliated with the University, though she said one person said it didn't seem like the man was familiar with the area.
This is a developing story.
