On the heels of students departing Ann Arbor for winter break, University President Mary Sue Coleman hit the road Saturday to deliver the winter commencement address at Indiana University.
Coleman spoke to 1,888 students Saturday morning at Assembly Hall on the school’s Bloomington campus. As an honorary degree recipient, Coleman was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters.
Earlier this month, Coleman was the speaker at Michigan State University’s winter commencement for advanced degree recipients. In East Lansing, Coleman emphasized the importance of collaboration of Big 10 universities as well as the challenges associated with declining state funding for higher education.
Last week, Coleman presided over her final University winter commencement address where journalist Michele Norris spoke to graduates.
In July, Coleman will retire after 12 years at the University's helm.
