Blimpy Burger tweeted for the first time early Thursday morning, and the news was bigger than the half-pound, five-patty burger it once served up at its 551 South Division Street location before it closed August to make way for the Munger Graduate Residence Hall.
According to Blimpy Burger’s website, the owners Rich and Chris Magner have found a new location to house the Ann Arbor classic burger joint. The two have solidified designs and contractor plans for the new location and are seeking currently investors.
Finalized in December 2012, the University purchased the Blimpy Burger property and surrounding property for $1.075 million. The purchase received a considerable amount of backlash from the Ann Arbor community.
In August, students and members of the Ann Arbor community lined up in droves to have one last meal at the restaurant’s original location.
As it is currently under construction, the Munger Graduate Residence Hall will take its place and is expected to open by 2015.
