Weekly Album Release Guide: Rock-rooted tracks from Bombay Bicycle Club, Kathleen Edwards and Guided By Voices

BY GEOFF MARINO

Bombay Bicycle Club – A Different Kind of Fix — Island
The promising North London indie-rockers release their next entry after 2010’s Flaws, which featured an acoustic softness and sprightliness that puts them in the same vein as other post-punk artists like Vampire Weekend and Bloc Party. This album proves to fill the void left by Vampire Weekend with a refreshing brand of indie-pop.

Kathleen Edwards – Voyageur — Rounder
The country rock singer-songwriter releases a fourth album that promises a different flavor from what she has delivered before. Justin Vernon, the man behind Bon Iver, and also her boyfriend, co-produced the album and will surely find a way to expand on Edwards’ traditional country roots.

Guided By Voices – Let's Go Eat the Factory — Guided by Voices Inc.
When the group disbanded in 2004, it seemed quite possible that we would never be graced with the almost ADD-short lo-fi again. But after announcing in 2011 that they would release two records in 2012, loyal fans of ‘90s college rock saddened by the disbandment of R.E.M. can once again taste the glory of the era.
