In wake of storm, residence halls lose power, multiple steam leaks on campus
BY DAILY STAFF
Amid tonight's blistering rain and thunder, several residence halls across campus lost power, and there were multiple steam leaks across campus.
Several residents reported power outages at Stockwell Hall, East Quad, Mosher-Jordan, West Quad and South Quad residence halls at about 8 p.m. The residence halls have since regained power.
Ann Arbor residents and students also reported seeing fires near Stockwell Hall and the Diag, however, Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown confirmed that these were not fires, but they were steam leaks.
The steam leak near Mason Hall caused the fire alarm to go off in the building, Brown said. The fire suppression system also went off in the building, and there is now water in the basement of Mason Hall as a result, she said.
