Neutral Zone brings poetic 'U' alums to Rackham tonight for its annual 'Poetry Night'

BY LAUREN CASERTA

The shadow of finals may be falling over the student body, but the Neutral Zone knows that there’s nothing like a little creative expression to get you through a tough week — so tear yourself away from that textbook, drag your roommate away from those derivatives and make your way to the Neutral Zone’s annual “Poetry Night in Ann Arbor.”

This year’s performance will feature ‘U’ alums and Wordworks founders Adam Falkner, Molly Raynor and Coert Ambrosino. Falkner is a teacher from Brooklyn, NY who works to incorporate creative writing and performance arts into teaching programs. Raynor is the founder of RAW Talent, a creative writing program dedicated to serving disadvantaged students. Ambrosino volunteers with the freNZ group through the Neutral Zone. The show will also feature performances by current Ann Arbor Wordworks and VOLUME poets.

“Poetry Night” is a loud, proud and adrenaline-pumping event that enjoys audience participation as much as poetic recitation, so bring your game face and leave your “quiet voice” at home! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Rackham Auditorium. For more information visit Neutral Zone’s website. Tickets from $5.
