Florida Governor Rick Scott (R) wants his state's universities to drop tuition for science, math and technology related majors in order to steer students toward career paths in those fields. Scott, formerly a businessman, wants some degrees to drop to $10,000 for all four years. According to the Times, the universities cannot currently afford to award degrees for such a low price, but are being asked to make spend cuts in order to do so.
