This fashion season, photographers scrambled and pushed others away to allow a better shot of Justin Doss, the 26-year-old frontrunner of the street-style movement, and with good reason. Doss worked as an associate menswear buyer for Barney’s in New York, as well as the Atlanta-based Sid Mashburn. He is a man with impeccable taste and a stellar hat collection (see above), and now, he will be the man behind the scenes at one of the largest circulating men’s magazine, dictating the ins and outs of fashion.
Last month, GQ magazine announced that after a 28-year stint as a Senior Fashion Editor, Lisa Cohen would be retiring, and they just announced that her replacement will be the one-and-only Justin Doss. GQ has been struggling in recent years to keep up with the fashion blogosphere, oftentimes giving terrible advice and leading many astray. All is about to change.
It is reported that Doss will be a fashion editor and cover the tailored clothing market, under the guidance of fashion director Jim Moore. One can only hope that Doss will have the creative independence to work with the products he wishes to – clearly, his taste is so unparalleled that he could revitalize the magazine. If you have not yet renewed your subscription, you best do that soon – GQ magazine is about to change for the better.
