LIVE BLOG: 'M' baseball vs. Illinois, game one

BY DAILY BASEBALL BEAT

The Daily baseball beat is here live at Ray Fisher Stadium to bring you the first game of the Michigan baseball team’s three-game set against Illinois.

The Illini (3-3 Big Ten, 11-17 overall) currently sit one game up on the Wolverines (2-4 Big Ten, 9-22 overall) in the Big Ten standings. Michigan is locked in a four-way tie for seventh place in the conference.

Redshirt sophomore left-hander Bobby Brosnahan will start for Michigan. Brosnahan is 1-2 with a 3.56 ERA in his last five starts. Against Purdue last Saturday, Brosnahan went six scoreless innings before getting tagged for three runs without recording an out in the seventh.

For Illinois, sophomore right-hander Kevin Johnson (1-3, 3.58 ERA) gets the start. In his only start against the Wolverines last year, Johnson picked up the win, going 7.2 innings and only surrendering two runs.
