Clooney's Ann Arbor appearance no longer 'Up in the Air'
BY DAVID TAO
We’ve been hearing them since last semester – rumors that a friend of a friend of a friend heard somebody say that their friend bumped into George Clooney scouting locations at Walgreen Drama Center, or talking to students at the Power Center, or ordering a large Baconator combo at the League Wendy’s (actually, he was spotted eating at Paesano, but nice guess).
Then there was last month’s casting call, which revealed that Clooney was indeed looking for over 1,000 Ann Arborite extras for his new film, “The Ides of March,” a political thriller which he is both directing and starring in.
Now, the website On Location Vacations has confirmed that Clooney and his star-studded cast will indeed be shooting on campus, arriving next Monday. He and cast members Ryan Gosling (“The Notebook”), Phillip Seymour Hoffman (“Capote”) and Evan Rachel Wood (“The Wrestler”) will shoot scenes for a day at the Arthur Miller Theater and for an additional two at the Power Center, before ending on Thursday at the Michigan League Ballroom.
Note that these dates and the cast members who'll be present can change on short notice. Also note that next week coincides with the actual Ides of March. I wonder if that means anything.
